Special Services & Preschool

Springfield Platteview Community Schools provide a variety of high quality services to over 160 students with varying needs and disability levels. We offer special education services at each building in the district; however, some programs are available only at selected sites.

Individualized Education

Parents and families work with school staff to develop an Individual Education Program (IEP) or an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) that addresses the needs of the student.

Our team of 16 special education teachers and related service providers and over 30 paraprofessionals work with principals, general educators, and other building staff to create individualized, inclusive school environments.

If you have any questions regarding special education services available, contact your child's teacher or building principal.

Preschool

We offer a preschool program for children three to five years old who qualify for early intervention.

Preschool is available to students who live in the Springfield Platteview Community School District and will be three or four years old by July 31, 2024.

  • 2024–2025 preschool application opens on March 1 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Preschool application deadline is on March 29 at 4:00 p.m.

SPCS Preschool Peer applications received after the deadline will be considered if slots are available, or you will be offered the waitlist.

    Child Find

"Child Find" refers to the process of locating, identifying, and evaluating children with disabilities to ensure that they receive the services to which they are entitled.

Children and youth ages birth to 21 living within Springfield Platteview Community Schools boundaries and suspected of having a disability may be referred for a possible evaluation to determine if they are eligible for special education services.

To refer a child, please contact either your building principal or the Special Education Department at the Springfield Platteview Community Schools administrative office at 14801 S. 108th St., Springfield, NE 68059, or call (402) 592.1300.

SPCS also conducts evaluations for students attending nonpublic schools located within the Springfield Platteview Community Schools boundaries who are referred to us by Springfield Platteview Community Schools or their resident district.
